Škoda Superb (2nd gen.)
The top of the Škoda Auto's model range, Škoda's flagship, popular luxury and the car which makes well-known VW Passat to be boring senior.
First Superb was based on the body of VW Passat B5, but has different interior and car body was changed. Superb looked more premium due the longer wheelbase (+10 cm against Passat) and more chrome using. The space on rear seats was so enormous that some car-market specialists ordered Superb in 'higher middle class' (luxury vehicles).
Second generation was released in 2008. Using its own face and skills of Czech engineers, offering the specials, which Passat never could have, and having so much space on rear seats, that you can have your legs stretched, Superb overcame the Passat again. For example the special - Superb is sedan and even liftback together. You can choose the variant when opening the trunk - this unique clever technology is called 'Twindoor'. Another special - from first generation introduced in 2001, Superb has quality branded umbrella integrated in rear side door, so you can never get wet when sitting on rear seats of Superb... Just like in brand's slogan: Simply Clever.
VW concern was frightened by success of Superb (this cannot be, Passat had to be better) and decided that Superb cannot have that umbrella and some (in Passat) popular engine/transmission combinations. Many protests came, so VW retreated in defeat and gave to Superb its umbrella back
In the end of the year 2014, BBC show Top Gear selected Superb as one from three best luxury cars in today production among the Mercedes-Benz S (premium) and Rolls-Royce Ghost (super-luxury). Superb was the best choice (value for money) in mid class.
